You hold the flower or season that matches your seat. Each seat owns one of the four flowers and one of the four seasons, numbered in seat order, so East owns the first of each. It is one faan per matching tile, so holding both your flower and your season is two faan.
Nothing is built. Bonus tiles are drawn, set aside, and replaced automatically. The only thing worth knowing is which numbers belong to your seat, so you recognise the faan when it lands rather than being surprised on the scoresheet.
Expecting every flower to pay. Only the ones matching your seat score this row. A flower belonging to another seat is worth nothing on its own, though it still counts toward Complete Flower Set.
It adds directly to any hand. It also sits inside Complete Flower Set, since all four of one kind necessarily includes yours. It cannot appear with No Flowers, which requires holding none.
Which flower belongs to my seat?
They are numbered in seat order. East takes the first flower and the first season, South the second, and so on around the table.
Can I score both a flower and a season?
Yes. They are separate tiles and each pays one faan, so both is two.
Do bonus tiles use up a turn?
No. A drawn bonus tile is set aside and replaced immediately, so you keep your turn.
