Mahjong Winds

Hong Kong scoring

Every hand, and what it pays

Every scoring pattern in Hong Kong mahjong, checked against the Hong Kong Mahjong Association tournament rulebook and the Chinese 常用番種 tables. Twenty-nine of them, shown in tiles rather than described in words.

Every value is the whole hand’s total, checked against written Hong Kong references. What we checked, and where sources differ.

Everyday patterns

Big hands

The number is what the whole hand is worth, so the pungs it is built from do not also count. This is where published charts most often appear to disagree, and mostly do not.

Limit hands

Worth the maximum on their own. Nothing else adds to them, because they already reach the ceiling.

One pattern people look for is deliberately not on this table, because Hong Kong does not score it: Voided Suit缺一門
